D2CEBL | Internal Traffic Filtering

Internal traffic isn't filtered out

I defined internal traffic and set up data filter per Google's instructions, but I'm still showing up on reports. What's causing this? How do I solve this? Thanks!

1/22/2025: Multiple issues can cause this. We'll start with making sure that internal traffic and data filter have been defined and set up properly. If everything is OK there, we will move on to step 2.

Solution: utilize cookie-based exclusion. It takes some time to implement, but it does work, and sometimes it's the only way to filter internal traffic.

Instructions on how to exclude internal traffic in GA4 are here. Go to option #2, it has step-by-step guide on how to set up cookie-based exclusion.
